I'm back from Hongkong! For those who didn't know, yah, I went to Hongkong the Monday right after my internship ended. Air tickets + accomodation at a not bad hotel with no smoke smell cost around S$440. Reason why it was so cheap: It was part of a package for companies for the Hongkong Fashion Week, so I was tagging along with my mum and aunts who were there for business purposes. Flew by Cathay Pacific and stayed at Harbour Plaza North Point.
Day 1:
Checked in at the hotel and had a good tea break at a nearby 茶餐厅 called 大家乐. Then went Causeway Bay (Tong Luo Wan) where we decided that it would be better shopping elsewhere. So we arrived at 女人街 where we did quite a bit of shopping, albeit not a very satisfying one (for me), haha. The place was like a bigger Bugis Street. Then we ate super tasty wanton noodles at a Cheekei Restaurant at Langham Place (Lang Hao Fang). End of Day 1.
Day 2:
Went to HKCEC (Hongkong Convention and Exhibition Centre) for the Fashion Week (Spring/Summer).
Walked around the exhibition area which was similar to Expo, only many times bigger. There were many fashion suppliers (evening gowns, streetwear, jackets, labels for clothes and shopping bags) - if I were a fashion buyer, I would definitely not miss out on the Hongkong Fashion Week. Shopping experience (if any): See nice, cannot buy. After that, we went to Cityplaza - largest shopping centre in Hongkong, or so they say. Place was really huge, felt like Jurong Point, but didn't shop much there. Lunch was a high-class meal at a restaurant in HKCEC, and dinner was at a floating Jumbo restaurant. Apparently, it's a famous restaurant but the food was only so-so. End of Day 2.
Day 3:
Had dimsum for breakfast. Then, Ocean Park! Marvelled at sharks, coral reefs, fishes, jellyfishes and pandas there, haha. Then went to Sham Shui Po - that's where the garment, lace, button and fashion suppliers are. That's where Apliu Street or 鸭寮街 is too. While my mum and one of my aunts shopped for materials for the bridal shop, my other aunt and I found stuff that people who like to DIY their accessories and clothes would love!
Our biggest 收获 was from Cheung Sha Wan Street, also in Sham Shui Po. Most of the 服装批发商 had boxes or racks at the front of the shop with really cheap clothes that were buyable, if you searched hard enough. The clothes inside the shops were mostly not meant to be sold to non-fashion buyers. In any case, I think shopping on Cheung Sha Wan Street beats shopping anywhere else, hahaha. Dinner was at 大家乐 again - the food there was that good. End of Day 3.
Day 4:
Breakfast was dimsum at same dimsum place. Then back to Sham Shui Po - now you know how good the place is. Lunch was forgotten too. Then back to Singapore! :D
